Dermal filler is used :
-To build the beautiful lips you have always wanted by adding shape, volume and definition
-The aging process results in loss of our natural volume and bone structure. Restore volume and structures to replenish your youthful appearance
-Provide facial contouring to enhance and define areas like your cheeks, jawline and even your chin.
How does it work?
As we follow the ageing process, we start lose the elasticity of our skin while gives us that beautiful bouncy, pump and youthful look. We start to have sagging and volume loss of our natural fat pads. And our bone structures start to resorb, causing a change in the structural support and forming more visible hollows, different contours and shaping of the face.
Most commonly, dermal fillers are normally made out of hyaluronic acid which is a component made in our own bodies. It is responsible and plays a role in things like hydration, soft skin, wound healing, preserving bone strength and more. However, our natural hyaluronic acid is broken down extremely quickly.
What areas can I treat with dermal fillers?
The main areas that can be treated include:
lip filler
cheek filler
nasolabial fold (smile lines) filler
marionette lines (corners of the mouth to the sides of the chin) filler
chin filler
jaw/jawline filler
How long does it last?
Artificial hyaluronic acid can last anywhere from 6-18 months depending on the composition of the filler and the speed of your metabolism. Dermal fillers are used to enhance and volumise different areas such as lips and cheeks. They can fill increases and fine lines. Hydrate the skin. Provide definition and structure to area and provide more contours to the face. Dermal fillers are manufactured at different viscosities to suit the area of treatment. Eg. Soft fillers are liquidy and malleable for sensitive and fragile areas like tear troughs. However, thicker fillers are used for areas like jawline, cheeks and chin; and are placed at a deeper level.
What are the side effects?
If you have any medical conditions or take any medications, you should always consult with your GP before booking your treatment. There are always side effects to all treatments. However, the most common risks include bleeding and bruising. Infection. Other side effects or complications may result depending on injection technique. Other serious complications may include anaphylaxis to the anaesthetic in the filler, or vascular occlusion, necrosis and blindness. However, these are rare, but can happen. The clinic has an emergency kit and policy to deal with any of these side effects/reactions.
Bruising, swelling and pain
Bruising is quite common with dermal fillers as needles and cannulas are used to insert the dermal and subdermal layers of your body. The pain experiences depends on your individual threshold. However, it is less painful than a tattoo. And most hyaluronic acid fillers are manufactured with a local anaesthetic, so as the treatment progresses, you should start to feel less pain. I can also use numbing creams prior to your treatment if you arrive early. Swelling after the procedure is quite common and can last up to a week at varying degrees. Your treated are is often the most swollen in the first two days following the procedure, and will slowly start to settle from then onwards.
You will always be given written information with aftercare instructions to look after your beautiful treated area.
I already have filler. Can I get more?
If you already have filler in the area you would like to be treated again, an individual assessment will be made as to whether the treatment can be completed. In some cases, your filler may need to be dissolved and started again. However it depends on the technique that was originally used, the products used, and whether there is any product migration etc.
If you have dermal fillers in another area, that shouldn’t impact your new treatments.
